FERPA Consent
As a current or former UConn student, the information contained in your education records is protected by a federal privacy law known as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Other than certain exceptions specified in FERPA, school officials can only share information from your education records with your written consent. Consent under FERPA must clearly specify what information may be shared, the purpose of sharing the information, and with whom it may be shared. Students may limit or withdraw consent at any time.
What This Means for You. Three Consent Options are Available.
- FERPA Manager allows students to designate individuals who may talk with UConn staff about education records or student services.
- Students can use the Student Administration System to grant access to select education records (e.g., financial info, transcripts, transfer credits).
- Flywire allows students to grant authorized users access to their financial information, including the ability to view charges on the account or pay the fee bill.
